| Looking for a handler for your show dog? I learned the hard way that anyone can get a handler number! I think this is very misleading. People can obtain a handler number via a show superintendent with little to no proof that they are qualified to show and be responsible for someone's dog. They are not required to be licensed with a professional organization nor do they have to apprentice under a licensed handler to get a handler number! And remember this person will have full control and responsibility for your beloved pet! Would you have someone who isn't a licensed plumber just come in your house or a vet without a license preform surgery on your pet just because they say well I have a number? Be smart! Contact a handler listed with one of these organizations to find a "true" professional Professional Handlers Association AKC Registered Handlers Program |
| Disclaimer All the individual breeders, handlers, etc listed here I believe to be reputable. However, I can not and will not be responsible for any issues that result from contacting a breeder listed on this page When researching breeders, handlers or anyone in dogs I have this advice: Being in good standing with a dog registry (such as AKC, UKC, CKC etc) does not necessarily mean a breeder, handler etc is reputable. Being a member of a national breed club also does not guarantee that someone is reputable. Nor does being a member of local breed clubs mean someone is reputable. However, from my experience I feel that, most local dog clubs have a strict code of ethics and are able do a better job of weeding out malicious and unethical people than some of the larger national breed clubs. Simply because local dog clubs are smaller and are therefore more intimate with their members. Besides looking at the breeders, trainers, etc listed here please see the links to our local dog clubs or a dog club near you to find info on reputable breeders, handlers, trainers in your area. |
