The picture on the right has been altered to show the color that Mya is now, she will have much more hair than this photo shows if she has been taken care of. Her ears will probably be straight up (pricked now). Mya is 14 inches tall at the shoulder and was about 15 lbs when she was taken. The white markings on her face will become harder to see with age. | On Mothers Day 2007 (May 13th 2007) the most important creature in the world was taken from me. This is her story. I was out of town that weekend and had left my beloved pets in the care of my husband who I thought was responsible. My yard is privacy fenced and I live in a city with a leash law. My neighbor's Brittany Spaniel (I had filed numerous complaints about this dog prior to this incident) dug a hole under my fence and Mya escaped. My husband who was responsible for my pets was not at home because (as I would later learn) he was having an affair. Therefore he had no idea Mya was gone. I would learn later from the witness to the theft that Mya was stolen approx. ten min. before I arrived home. Mya was stolen from the BP station on the west side of AL HWY 59 and Fern Street in Foley AL. This BP station is located roughly two blocks south of South Baldwin Hospital, the station is just one block from my home. The people used food, according to the witness to lure my dog to them. After taking Mya they headed North on AL 59. The vehicle, according to the witness, is a black or dark colored SUV with TN plates and a Stone Mountain GA Tag holder. The manager of the BP was aggressive and rude to me and by the time I found a witness and had the police involved the surveillance tapes were of no use. It is my hope and prayer that somehow one day Mya will be returned to me. The $1,000.00 reward is no questions asked. Just please give Mya back. Mya is microchiped with an AVID chip I hope that if the people who took Mya read this they will realize that Mya is my beloved pet and meant so much to me and to others too. Mya was loose and at the BP not because I was a terrible pet owner who didn't deserve her. Mya's escape was a horrible accident and beyond my control. Heartbroken I tried everything I could think of to get Mya back. What happened to Mya represents the worst of humanity (and yes I am now divorced) but Mya's story also represents the BEST of humanity too. I would like to thank everyone who helped me look for Mya. There are so many of you and I wish there was some way I could personally thank each and every one of you. Without you there would be no hope of ever finding Mya at all. When and if she is ever found it will be because of all of you. Thank you. Mya's Legacy Even though Mya is gone and probably will not ever have puppies herself she has left a legacy. Because of her disappearance she has helped many other dogs find forever homes. Some of these dogs were dogs that were found because people thought they had found Mya. Others were dogs that people offered to me to replace Mya because I had lost mine and they didn't want theirs anymore. One missing dog who was turned into rescue because the finder thought she had found Mya, was reunited with her owner after the owner saw a Mya bumper sticker! I want to say a BIG THANKS to all those in rescue who have helped rescue and foster Mya's Legacy. I would also like to thank everyone who has contacted me when they thought they had found Mya. Even though these dogs were not Mya you saved the life of the dog you found and you never know maybe one day it WILL be Mya. Below are a few of those dogs saved because of Mya. They are all safe in forever homes today. |

| To Mya, I hope one day I will have you back in my life. Until then, I will always miss you and wonder where you are and if you are ok. I hope that whoever has you is taking good care of you and that one day they will find it in their heart to let you come home. |
