The Non-Canine Gang At Caithream
Besides the dogs I share my life with a few more critters as well.
I have birds that bark and a cat who defantly thinks he is a dog.
Allthough they will never compete in shows or win awards, they have earned a place in my heart and defantly deserve their own webpage.
Zazu
Zazu is a 13 year old Congo African Grey Parrot
Zazu speaks mostly English but he speaks a great deal of DOG and a little Bird as well! He can somehow manage to make himself sound like an entire litter of puppies yelping at once and if a dog gets into something he will say that dogs name followed by "Bad Dog!"  He knows each dog's indavudual bark and can bark just like them it takes him just 24 hours to learn a "new" bark.  He also can mimick the sound of my phone so well that only my dogs know when the "real" phone rings.
Rusty
Rusty is a 8 year old Birmingham Roller Pigeon.
Rusty was rescued as a baby from an auction he was nearly dead and I revived him. Because Rusty couldn't care for himself I had to feed him. I knew nothing about Pigeons and I want to send a big thanks to Danny Murphy (who owns racing pigeons) for educating me on Pigeon husbandry. Rusty has no idea that he is a Pigeon I think he thinks he is a parrot. My very ugly baby grew up to be a very pretty bird.
Hogan
Hogan is a 20 year old Red Sided Eclectus Parrot. He came to live with us after he lost his home thanks to Hurricane Katrina. Prior to the hurricane he lived with a friend of mine. Hogan has a BIG mouth and speaks English and Bird. He likes to have his way ALL the time and loves to compete with me when I am on the phone. If you call me one thing is for sure you will get to hear Hogan. I was umprepared to house Hogan and Hogan lost his cage in the storm. I would like to thank everyone who helped me get a cage, accessories and veterinary care for Hogan.
Pat
Pat is a year old Maine Coon Mix. I had no idea of his mix when I got him though. But then he grew and grew into a HUGE cat and his type is very simalar to a Manie Coon.. I was so saddened by the death of my beloved Persian, Digger that for two years I didn't want to consider another cat. Last May (2007) my best friend and I were buying Daylilies at a local flea market and we saw a kid giving Pat to an animal vendor. They had given all the kittens away but one and had to leave. My friend scooped him up and handed him to me. He is marked very much like Digger was and is the same orange tabby color. Because he was born sometime around St Patrick's Day I named him Pat. Pat thinks he is dog. He LOVES dogs. Isn't afrade of them and boldly walks up to any dog. He loves to torment cats espcially female cats. He acts more like a dog than a cat, and he is my new gardening buddy.
